I like the still waters beside dense marshland for this painting. It is inhospitable. Not a place I would like to live as I imagined it hot and humid, but the tangled woods are  home to many life forms that are co-dependent. I chose watercolour for the translucent quality that fits this scene. The soft, ethereal light works well here.

This impressionist painting captures awe and wonder in the early spring light. Left untouched by mankind, this habitat remains a timeless place to wander. While painting, I imagined the sounds of nature and the scent of spring flowers in the mist.

This work builds on concept drawings and photos of an imaginary British countryside. I studied impressionist and post-impressionist masters to learn how they painted light and placed detail.

The figures of the girl and dog evoke memories of an early romance.
